Julie Zhang & Amy Zou
MEET
YOUR CHAPTER HEAD
Hi! I’m Julie, a grade 12 student from Branksome Hall. I started working with the deaf and hard-of-hearing community in grade 9 when I became the club head of Branksome’s American Sign Language Club. I enjoyed teaching ASL and spreading awareness in my school community, but I wanted to contribute on a larger scale outside of the classroom. This is why I decided to start the Hope For Hearing Branksome Chapter. However, I don’t want this just to be a passion project of mine or a dissolved organization after I graduate. To ensure this chapter thrives in the following years, I will build a strong foundation through dedicated student leadership, partnerships with local organizations, and sustainable initiatives. My goal is to create a lasting impact that continues promoting accessibility and inclusivity in the community.
Hello! I’m Lang (Amy) Zou, a Grade 12 student at Branksome Hall. I am an avid explorer of STEM and enjoy reading recent publications in Nature, APJS, and the Annual Review. On the other hand, I also enjoy watching documentaries about science and nature (my so-far favourite is “Spy in the Wild”). My primary passion outside of academics is storytelling via multiple mediums: storyboard art, creative writing, and music arrangement. For those reasons, I am a clarinetist in three bands, and I always submit my work to BH’s art magazine Perennial. Looking forward to the year, the Branksome Hall HFH chapter aims to raise awareness in our school community further through assembly, fundraising, and collaboration with the spring concert.
